Kalamaki resort is located 7km south of the town of Zakynthos. In fact Kalamaki area is a natural extension of the area of Laganas.
The beach at Kalamaki is shallow with golden sand and warm waters while being a reproduction place of the Caretta-Caretta turtle.
It is worth to take a walk to the final part of the beach where the mountain dives directly into the sea and one can enjoy privacy even in August.
Although Kalamaki is relatively quiet in comparison to Laganas it is a popular destination in Zakynthos island and offers a wide variety of hotels, apartments, restaurants and shops.
Kalamaki’s nightlife isn’t that immense as it is in Laganas but there are a lot of bars and clubs where you can enjoy lovely music and cool cocktails.
As far the food is concerned you will find many restaurants and taverns in Kalamaki serving different types of cuisine from traditional to English, Chinese and Italian. For the fast food lovers don’t worry you won’t miss it as Kalamaki has to offer lots of snack bars spread along the main road.
We recommend you though to find a traditional tavern that offers live Greek music with traditional singing and dancing and you will soon find yourself dancing the syrtaki, believe me.
Regarding Kalamaki’s accommodation there is a plethora of hotels, studios, apartments, villas or bungalows to choose from.
Like all around the island you have possibilities to find the type of accommodation that best suits your needs as the choices target all budgets and tastes.
Finally the market in Kalamaki is really comprehensive and you can find jewellery shops, leather shops, gift shops, souvenir shops, bakeries and supermarkets.
Don’t miss the chance to try Zante traditional products like mandolato or a caretta-caretta turtle souvenir to take back home.
Regarding your transportation Kalamaki is connected to Zakynthos town and Laganas by bus service with daily runs.
Furthermore there are many places where it is possible to rent a car in Zante or even jeeps, motorbikes, atvs and bicycles to move around the island.
